Hey guys — during the test phase, it’d be fun to see who is out here and also come up with some good “starting” forums for people to use. I’d like to see a general Intro thread for folks to say hi…

So go ahead, tell us about yourself. If you need a bit of help, start with
* Your preferred handle (whether it be unique and shiny to this forum or your internet one)
* What do you like to read or write?
* Your goals as you come check out StarterSerials.
* You are about to be stranded on a desert island . Do you choose Coffee or tea?

==================================

I’m sgl/sglee/s-girl on the internets. You’ll find me all over , I’m afraid as I write and draw lots of cartoon/anime/animation stuff. I’m a terrible fangirl. The kind that scares the normal people :).

* I love to read genre fiction particularly fantasy, sci-fi, suspense, romance, and Jane Austen novels.
* I’m here to help. I like the idea of providing open, honest feedback to other authors who can take it. I promise to be as constructive as I can.
* Desert island. COFFEE.

Ima thinking that this is going to be a cool thing, and I am looking forward to being part of it.
You can find me as growingsuper on the interweb, usually on sights about superhero books
I’m up for any type of book to read, well, almost any, but I like to write superhero books
My goal here is to get my writing out in the open and to use other works to spark ideas
I don’t really like either, but I would choose tea

I’m looking forward to this whole thing. Should be pretty great. I’m especially looking for fantasy and sci-fi, as well as readers to prod me into continuing to write, which is a consistent problem for me (never finished anything longer than 10,000 words).
nxtm4n is my handle across the internet, so if you run across a nxtm4n that’s probably me. I’ve occasionally used The_Raven_Lord, but not nearly as often.
Tea is far better than coffee. Far better.

I’m excited for this whole thing. I don’t really have a presence on the interweb so just for this site I’m J.T. I like to read almost anything. Writing is a little more difficult, I have two stories I work on a lot but have never really been able to finish and I’m not sure why. I would like to at first just read through the serials, and as time goes on maybe post my own. I prefer tea over coffee, but that may just be because I have never had coffee before. I hear it’s really bitter.

Lets see, I go by Taulsn, and occasionally Truth. I read a lot of stuff a mostly full list is on my site. I write Raising Angles a fantasy webserial that started in late March, I also write Overwatch a series of super hero one shots that started in early April. I don’t so much as have a goal here as I am curious so see how things will turn out. Also I need more reading material since I am caught up on everything on my list. Coffee or tea is a hard one, since I usually just chug espresso. However caffein is a diuretic and fresh water would be scarce on a desert island, so I am going to have to chose herbal tea.

Hey guys – sorry it’s slow. I guess while we’re waiting for the full open, Drew has let us create our own threads. Let me start another one for “topic suggestions” and we can do more rambling, chatty stuff there?

Welcome Tausln: You’re too practical but probably right. I guess I presumed this would be an awesome deserted tropical island like LOST minus the polar bears. If you need more free reads — there are plenty listed at WebfictionGuide, Muses Success, and then some on Jukepop and Wattpad. Tons of stuff also to poke through at http://theonlinenovel.wordpres…..t-serials/

JT: I think the important thing is trying to finish something, no matter how short or long it is. I don’t think I ever would have embraced one serial or its sequel had I not been able to finish fanfics first :3. It gives you a confidence that you can figure something out… so I say, start with a small goal like a short story?

Josh: Tea, too? D: I like tea but I’m feeling no love here. COFFEES:LKSDJKLSD:LKJFKJLD:F

Hello I’m Tempest, which I’m known by all over.
I read fantasy almost exclusively, although since finding serials I’ve branched out a bit, superheroes seem to be rather prevalent. I write MageLife, which is high magic fantasy, my first attempt at writing since i left school over a decade ago.

My goals here are just to be nosy, I like the community on WFG, the idea of a helping hand to get people sharing their stories is a wonderful one that i really think could encourage those that are unsure where to start.

Desert island: Tea, I doubt being twitchy would help much on an island. far better to relax with a nice cuppa. Being british may have influenced my choice.

Hello everybody,
I am Brone out here in the wilds of the internet. I am hoping to graduate from FanFiction to original works. Hopefully I will learn the tools of this site, and develop the skills needed to earn more than a sympathetic “Well, at least you tried…”

Hi Brone – You can do it!

I wrote quite a bit of it many years ago, gradually writing longer and longer works. My longest was about 130k? It was definitely novel-length but I shortened it because I felt it was time to wrap it up. (People told me to keep going but I was trying to put more time to other pursuits.)

That was the story that gave me the confidence that I could pull it off in original work. (I really was improvising nearly every installment on that fiction and survived. In hindsight it was probably still plotted okay but I had a lot of bad habits that I’d like to edit out if I ever go back to cleaning up that story.)

In any case, welcome !

And Hi Tausln – I recognize you a bit from the internet, including WFG :). Another tea drinker! ahhh! I must be the lone caffeine addict here.

Well now, this is quite the interesting idea. Hello everyone!

* Your preferred handle (whether it be unique and shiny to this forum or your internet one)
I am Maddison Rose, aka MaddiroseX.

* What do you like to read or write?
I wrote Orbital Academy, an erotic sci-fi serial, and currently write renaissance/clockpunk-fantasy Twisted Cogs. I mostly read web serials these days, although I can be tempted back into the trad-published-book world by a good paranormal or fantasy series.

* Your goals as you come check out StarterSerials.
Curiosity mostly! This seems like quite the interesting setup, and I’m always on the lookout for intriguing up-and-coming serials to read and writing communities to interact with.

* You are about to be stranded on a desert island . Do you choose Coffee or tea?
Black tea, with milk and sugar. Also if I could somehow get a working computer and internet so I can keep writing, along with that unlimited tea? Yeah I’d never leave that desert island.

Hey, guys. I’m new around these parts. Looking to weasel my way into this community. Y’all look like a fun and clever bunch.

* Your preferred handle (whether it be unique and shiny to this forum or your internet one)
Just call me Avery.

* What do you like to read or write?
I don’t know how to answer this one. I’ll read anything so long as it catches my eye. I used to be a genre reader, but I’ve fallen out of love with established genres. I’m more invested in the indie scene these days — hence my arrival here. :D

In terms of writing, same deal. I don’t believe in boxing other folks’ work into restrictive genre labels. It is what it is. I enjoy incorporating fantasy elements into stories, but I don’t consider myself a fantasy writer; I enjoy incorporating futuristic and soft sci-fi elements into my stories, but I don’t consider myself a space opera writer. I write campy sex comedies on the side but ain’t nobody supposed to know tha– ahem.

Y’all just gotta do you, y’know?

* Your goals as you come check out StarterSerials.
I’m here to read cool indie fiction and interact with you guys! I’ve been contemplating launching an uncomplicated serial of my own, but I’m no good with pacing and, well, drawing a story out over a couple thousand words. Maybe I’ll pick up some sweet tips over here. :)

* You are about to be stranded on a desert island . Do you choose Coffee or tea?
Tea. Definitely tea.

Hey Avery, MAddi, and Lucie!
(I know I’ve seen Maddi on reddit and on WFG :) , so hi again.)

Have been pretty overwhelmed at work so am hoping to catch up over the next week on your first installments. (I also have to post one too on my own site and am really behind because of personal obligations on top of long work days this week!)

Saw that folks are commenting too– that’s great to see!

* What do you like to read or write?: Fanstasy, Sci-fi, anything with a dash of humor is always pleasant too.
* Your goals as you come check out StarterSerials: Same as with everything else I do: World Domination.
* You are about to be stranded on a desert island . Do you choose Coffee or tea?: Tea, but iced tea, because I am a heathen and a Philistine. :D

I go by Adia Norine.

* What do you like to read or write?
I love to read fantasy and romance, especially if they’re Japanese/Chinese novels.
As for writing, I pretty much love to write anything. However, my favorite genre to write is supernatural and fantasy.

* Your goals as you come check out StarterSerials.
Well, I’m starting a web serial of my own called The Dark Eccentrics. I like to learn the basic steps to manage this. Plus, I get to read and interact with other writers.

* You are about to be stranded on a desert island . Do you choose Coffee or tea?
I’ll have iced tea with lemon. ^^

* Your preferred handle (whether it be unique and shiny to this forum or your internet one): Jeffrey Allen or Jeff
* What do you like to read or write?: I’m a big fan of fantasy and sci-fi, which I also attempt to write. I prefer realism in my stories.
* Your goals as you come check out StarterSerials: I’m in between my main books for The Enhanced, so I decided to write a second story to keep practicing. I’m way behind the curve so I need all the help I can get.
* You are about to be stranded on a desert island . Do you choose Coffee or tea? Tea – If hot, Turkish Orange tea, if cold – Thai Iced Tea
